In my house we only speak English, it is the only language my Dad and I know. We aren’t the most proper speaking family but we aren’t the worst. When I was growing up i lived in Ohio but I had some family in New Jersey that we went to see all the time, that was the first time I realized that not everyone talks the same and we all don’t say the same words. For example I would say pop and they would laugh and tell me to say soda, I would also say noodles and they would tell me to say pasta. Another example that i’ve come across lately is a girl in one of my classes lives up north and say that my friends and I sound southern. They aren’t big differences but it is cool to see how we are speaking the same language but depending where you are from. I couldn’t imagine being fluent in another language and living in a country where not many speak it, but so many people do it it is amazing.
Hey Sam, it’s amazing to see people who speak the same language use different terms and accents to describe the object or person.
