In the book we read about two people Branch and Lopez. They grew up completely different but they both kind of had the same goals. Growing up branch from a pretty average white american family, he got things when he needed them and had access to anything he needed. Lopez on the other hand didn’t have it as easy, she grew up less fortunate than branch but still had the same goals as him. She didn’t have a laptop of her own, the only one she had access to was the one at the library and she had to make due with that. Lopez didn’t have the luxury of being white or being a little bit wealthy, she had to work a lot harder than most. There is still racism today, whether we see it all the time or not
